The Burlington Centaurs newly minted U18 Girls team played their season opener game in Hamilton Wednesday evening. Due to some missing players, the team only had 14 players to field against a strong looking Hamilton side. Regardless of playing short, the Centaur Girls scored an early try and finished the first half up 12-5. However, after two Centaur girls received minor injuries, the Hamilton squad rallied and eventually pulled ahead in the 2nd half. With only 5 minutes left in the game, the Centaur Girls dug deep and made a final offensive push. After stealing the ball during a Hamilton scrum, the girls fought back with grit and determination and put one final try over the line. The Centaur Girls pulled out a hard fought 17-15 victory to start their season.
Tries were scored by Emily Bowen (Captain), Teona Kebede, and Charolette Rea. Congratulations to our U18 Girls and good luck with the rest of your season!
